Description
Park No. 576, commonly called "Whitford Pond", is a 140-acre nature preserve park, with marshland, wooded, and open, grassy habitats.
History
In 2012, the Park District identified a 140-acre site along the Calumet River and entered into a lease agreement with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago for the use of land to create this park.
