Description

Diversey Natural Area comprises a little over three acres of native prairie, savanna, and wetland habitats. Converted from an often-flooded area in Lincoln Park (north of Diversey Harbor), the abundant native wildflowers, grasses, and sedges are better suited to the wet conditions than the previous turf grass lawn that previously grew in this space. Diversey Natural Area also serves as a stormwater retention area for the artificial turf sports field to the south.

A paved path running along the west end of this natural area allows visitors to spot vibrant native prairie and wetland plants such as rose milkweed (Asclepias incarnata), compass plant (Silphium laciniatum), and wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa).

Help keep wildlife wild, safe, and healthy by following posted signage and Natural Areas Rules and Regulations. For questions regarding 快播视频 Natural Areas, email nature@chicagoparkdistrict.com.
