Description

North Park Village Nature Center is surrounded by about 45 acres of prairie, oak savanna, woodland, and wetland habitats within the 160-acre North Park Village complex.  Winding crushed gravel and mulch paths run through these diverse habitats. The Nature Center’s mission is to provide residents an opportunity to interact with wildlife, plants and other natural resources through environmental education programs such as field trips for students, intergenerational programs on conservation and biodiversity, habitat restoration, volunteer opportunities, and year-round events.

Help keep wildlife wild, safe, and healthy by following posted signage and Natural Areas Rules and Regulations. For questions regarding ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Natural Areas, email nature@chicagoparkdistrict.com

Community Stewardship Days

In addition to maintenance conducted by the park district, North Park Village benefits from the dedication and hard work of volunteers who collect and scatter native seed, plant native species, pick up trash, monitor flora and fauna, and remove invasive species. At North Park Village Nature Center, Community Stewardship Days occur every Wednesday and Sunday from 9:00AM–12:00PM. Registration is required. Contact the Nature Center at 312-744-5472 to RSVP. Learn more about volunteer opportunities throughout the parks by visiting our Community Stewardship Program page.
